Motor

Duff-Norton can competitively supply motors for any application from suppliers such as Baldor, Nord, US Electric, Leeson, and more. Motors can be directly mounted to most Duff-Norton actuators using C-face adapters, directly mounted via speed reducers, or remotely mounted with shafting and couplings. IEC, servo, hydraulic, and air motors can also be supplied upon request.

Features & Benefits

Standard Motors Available Including:

  • Brake and Non-brake Models
    • Brake motors are used when holding a load in position is critical, especially in vertical applications or when power is lost.
    • Non-brake motors, also known as reversible motors, are suitable for applications where the load is not critical or where the system is designed to be self-locking
  • Single Phase or Three Phase Models
    • Single Phase are generally less expensive to purchase and maintain. And are widely available with standard electrical outlets with less complex wiring requirements.
    • Three Phase Models are more efficient due to balanced load distribution and smoother power delivery. They offer superior starting torque and more consistent torque throughout operation. More efficient due to balanced load distribution and smoother power delivery. Tend to be more durable and have a longer lifespan.
  • Explosion Proof, Washdown Duty
    • Specifically designed for applications where linear actuators operate in environments that require both hazardous location safety and regular high-pressure cleaning. These motors are critical in industries like food and beverage processing, pharmaceuticals, chemical manufacturing, and other sectors dealing with flammable substances or dust alongside strict hygiene requirements.
  • Wide Variety of Voltages and RPM’s
Your choice of motor type, voltage, and RPM for a linear actuator depends heavily on the specific application's requirements, including desired speed, force output, precision, and operational conditions. Duff-Norton can provide custom solutions that fit your need.
  • 50/60Hz Models are Available
Depending on your region's standard power grid frequency this option is available.
  • Horsepower Ratings from 1/4 to 10
For use in small, light-duty applications to powerful industrial units capable of handling substantial loads.
  • Common NEMA Frame Sizes
Standardized frame sizes for motors used in our linear actuators, ensure compatibility and interchangeability between motors from different manufacturers.
