Features & Benefits
Backlash occurs when the motor driving an actuator reverses its load direction. When the actuator is under load, the lifting screws threads are supported by the worm gears threads. The anti-backlash nut, pinned by the worm gear and adjusted downwards by the shell cap, forces the bottom thread surfaces against the upper thread surfaces of the lifting screw. Thus, backlash between the lifting screw and worm gear threads is reduced to a minimum.
- Capacity
1/4- to 250-Ton models. - Precise Positioning
By minimizing or eliminating the clearance between mating components, anti-backlash systems ensure that the input motion is directly translated into output movement. This translates to greater precision in positioning and repeatable movement, crucial for tasks such as robotics, CNC machining, and medical devices. - Reduced Vibration and Noise
Backlash can lead to unwanted vibrations and noise, especially during rapid direction changes. The anti-backlash design helps to maintain constant contact between components, minimizing these effects and promoting smoother, quieter operation. - Better System Efficiency
By ensuring that every increment of input motion produces a corresponding output movement, anti-backlash actuators contribute to higher overall system efficiency. This can be particularly beneficial in applications requiring precise control and energy efficiency. - Maximum Control
The ability to lock and hold a load, thereby eliminating the need for brake motors required for some applications. - Enhanced Durability and Lifespan
Backlash can cause increased wear and tear on components due to repeated impacts and friction. Anti-backlash systems can contribute to a longer lifespan of the actuator and associated components by reducing or eliminating backlash-induced wear.
