STAHL CraneSystems Supplies Technology for Railway Car Repair

The Russian/Belarusian joint venture, Osipovichi Wagon Works, was building a new factory for manufacturing and overhauling tank and freight wagons and needed a lifting system for the facility. The initial plan for the facility included producing up to 2,500 freight wagons and 2,000 tank containers each year, with the goal of eventually producing 3,500 wagons annually to cover rising country demands.

A repair works for railway wagons had existed in Osipovichi since 1933, but the existing shop needed to be completely renovated along with the addition of five ultra-modern shops for manufacturing freight wagons and transport tanks on the site.

For this job, Osipovichi needed 36 double girder overhead traveling cranes, manufactured in part by South German crane builders Innokran and Haslinger. STAHL CraneSystems from Künzelsau supplied the complete crane technology equipment consisting of 71 wire rope hoists, 88 crane end carriages and the necessary controls. The double girder overhead traveling cranes were each equipped with two wire rope hoists – an SH 60 with 16-20 ton capacities and a fast SH 40 auxiliary hoist with a 5-ton capacity.

Why did Osipovichi Wagon Works choose STAHL CraneSystems’ technology? STAHL Cranesystems’ hoist and crane products are known for their technical superiority and are internally recognized for the reliability they provide for lifting applications. Successful production of the first wagons began at the end of 2011.

36 double girder overhead travelling cranes, seven single girder overhead travelling cranes and a suspension crane are all equipped with hoists and crane components from STAHL CraneSystems.
